Study of Benthonic Foraminifera of the
Qom Formation
in Attari Section, Northeast Semnan

Abstract:
One stratigraphic section for studying of benthonic foraminifera of the Qom Formation in northeast Semnan was selected. The studied section with ۲۸۰ meter thick, predominantly comprised of marl, limestone, sandy limestone, sandstone and shale.
۱۳۶ samples were collected and ۲۴ genera and ۳۰ species belonging to Acervulinidae, Alveolinidae, Astrigerinidae, Austrotrillinidae, Discorbidae, Elphidiidae, Hauerinidae, Meandropsinidae, Miogypsinidae, Peneroplidae, Rotaliidae, Soritidae, Spiroloculinidae, Textularidae were identified. Based on occurrences of index benthonic foraminifera viz., Borelis melo curdica, Dendritina rangi, Elphidium sp.۱۴, Meandropsina anahensis Meandropsina iranica, , Peneroplis evolutus, Peneroplis farsensis, Rotalia viennotti, the age of the formation in examined section is Aquitanian-Burdigalian.
