An earthquake measuring 3.7 on the Richter scale hit the city of Shahmirzad in the north eastern of Semnan Thursday night.
According to the Semnan Seismological Network affiliated to the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the quake occurred at 20:01 hours local time (1631 GMT).
The tremor was felt in an area measuring 53.42 degrees in longitude and 35.99 degrees in latitude, the report added.
There are no reports of any casualty or damage to property.
Quakes of varying magnitudes often occur in Iran, which is situated on some of the world's most active seismic fault lines.
