Common Asked Questions and Answers

1 - What is remote sensing?

Remote sensing is a technology for collecting of information and imaging of Earth by using of aviation aircraft equipment such as airplane, balloon or space equipment, such as satellite.
In other words, remote sensing science is science and art of the following information on physical and chemical through the Earth and atmospheric phenomena by characteristics of electromagnetic waves, reflected or diffused from tham and without direct contact with these phenomena.

2 - When was the first satellite launched?

The first satellite launched into space by Aspvtynk Bvdk·h USA, October 4 was launched in 1957 and since that date more than 18,000 objects flying around the Earth's rotation has been.

3 - What was called first Earth resources satellite and when did it launched to space?
The first Earth Resources Satellite was landsat1 which was launched in 1973 and would image from anywhere in the earth once every 18 days. U.S. by throwing of landsat1 could estimate levels of wheat and its production in the world in that year, and would provide all costs of landsat. Landsat had MSS_multi spectral scanner sweeper sensor and it imaged the 4 electromagnetic bands in visible and infrared areas. This is a big success and revolution for geology and mine experts.

4 - What do you know about the Iranian Zohreh satellite?

Zohreh satellite is a nonmilitary and communications satellites that made contract of construction and launch of it in Bahman 1383 to pay 132 million dollars was signed between Iran and Russia.
Term contract is predicted thirty-month and it is planned that it is launched from the spaceport in Kazakhstan and will be located in one of points belonging to Iran orbit.
design and construction of Satellite by Russia and cooperation with Germany and France will take place.
Life of this satellite is 15 year and its location will be at an altitude of 36,000 kilometers from Earth. The satellite has capability of representation of advantages in the field of telephone communication services, data communications, fax and broadcasting of radio and television programs in all parts of Iran and it has 12 transponder (8 transponder, 36 MHz and 4 transponder, 72 MHz) which has capability of the Playback analogue signals and digital telephone, television pictures, satellite data and other information. Zohreh satellite has five inseparable parts.

▪ Satellite

 ▪ test station for satellite tracking

▪ control stations for telemetry and satellite tracking

▪ test station in circuit for testing systems and satellite communications parameters

▪ satellite simulator for modeling the satellite control center and training

▪ station utilization and alternative stations

5 - explain applications of remote sensing in geological studies?

By using of satellite data we can separate borders of many of geological formations from each other, we can study faults and prepare various geological maps. From various geological maps which can be prepared by using of satellite data, are map of faults and fractures, map of various lithologic formations, soil maps and map of surface evaporite potential. Including a variety of geological maps using satellite data can be made, fault and fracture map, maps of different rock formations, soil maps and map the surface evaporates potential reserves can be named. Furthermore the very wide range under each image, satellite images for studies of such macro region is very useful for geologists. Other applications of remote sensing can be pointed to the following:
A: extraction or alteration Dgrsanyha (Argillic - iron oxide - Silicification and ...)
B: Extraction Vtktvnyky geological structures (faults - lineaments of - ring structures and ...)
A: The extraction of important rock units associated with virulence ore
D: Data Extraction elevation (DEM) in order to geomorphologic variable.
