Test free, discoidal to globular; proloculus followed by enrolled undivided tubular chamber, although the latter may have cham-ber; wall calcareous, formed of an inner dark microgranular layer that tends to be lost in advanced taxa and a clear radially built more or less perforate outer layer. L. Carboniferous (Visean) to U. Carboniferous (Moscovian).
