  • Article title : Cause of concentration outcrop of salty domes in LarestanAnd NW of Bandarabbas & lack of them in west of Qatar Kazeroon fault

    Abstract:
Arial photograph analysis with image processing of satellite data and extension field checking has provided these conclusions:
1)Salt domes have been come up where uplifting is occurred. This uplift that associated with rotation in anticlines axes is due to strike-slip faults action. The hinged movement of Arabian plate (McKenzie et al., 1970) causes the modification of Zagros trend from NW-SE in the west and the south of Zagros to NE-SW in Larestan and Bandar Abbas. Due to this trend modification, some sinstral faults have created in these areas. This feature with high thickness of Hormoz salt in these areas causes the accumulation of salt domes (Salt Province).
2)There is a basement ridge in Arabian plate that lies in Khuzestan and Lorestan (Farhoudi, 1978). This basement ridge has caused advance collision in this area. Eastern limit of this ridge is Qatar-Kazeroun lineament. In the east of this lineament, subduction and collision of plates have been occurred later. Researches shown that outcrop of salt had been existed in Lorestan and Khuzestan at old age that have been caused uplifting of Hormoz formation salt and complete vanishing it. However in the Larestan and north of Bandar Abbas, Hormoz formation exists under ground yet and nourishes the salt domes.
