Alborz Mountain Range is a Polyorogenic belt that evolved during several tectonic events from Cimmerian Orogeny to the present day. There is some theories for mechanism of it?s formation. Some authors believe that this Rang occurred in results of antiformal stacks of reverse and thrust faults in cover of Alborz crust. In contrast, others state that many of high-angle reverse faults in Alborz cut its basement.
Study of area that is located in northern part of the central Alborz has one of the best outcrops of Kahar Formation. Most of geometric features of faults in this area such as high-angle reverse faults with convex-up geometry (for south dipping reverse faults) and alternative changes in dip of reverse faults are adapted further to Inversion Tectonics Model.
Finally, comparison of geometry & kinematics and sequences of reverse and thrust faults in northern portion of study area is shown that apparently eastern structures are rotated 27 degree anticlockwise around axis of rotation 81/120.
